that's the postman asleep in the sand, he's got a get-well-card to deliver.

Alison was sick last week and, although I am sure she is feeling better by now, I came across this picture and couldn't help thinking that this must be what she looks like sick in bed. All sultry, cozy and with an assortment of tasty snacks.Stop getting sick Ali. I don't like having to look after you long distance!!!
Kisses.

beats and melodies keep realities at bay.

When it is really humid you don't want blankets at night. I don't like sleeping without blankets though, so lately I have succumb to the wild and vivid dreams that comes with being too hot and sweaty while I sleep. Last night I bought bright green towels and tried to paint them like the Brazil flag only to end up practicing the Hangul (Korean characer writing) I have been learning. Lately I've been daydreaming about big puffy down comforters that are cold to the touch and feel really nice when you wrap your naked body up in them.- listening to: "Blanket" Urban Species feat. I like the way this shoot is so retro and how it gives such a casual feeling of summer. It reminds me of Quesnel in a good way. Kind of like I'm looking at pictures of my friend's parents when they were young.
I want to wear vintage levi's and a t-shirt and go horseback riding through some fields. Jeremy doesn't know how to ride a horse. Although he says he would give it a go if the opportunity came up, but there are horse trail rides where we are going this break and I didn't think he sounded very enthusiastic when I brought it up.

passing time with you in mind.

Dearest Eva,
Now that you are a Vancouverite (at least for the time being), I am very happy to point you towards some of my favourite stores. Lucky for you, you are set to live in Mount Pleasant, the boutique mecca of my last few years of University. Not only did I buy Alison's and my grad dresses there (which are to DIE for), I also bought some of the prettiest vintage things in my wardrobe there that aren't just for special occasions.
Walking up Main St away from downtown, you will find many stores to make any lady drool. The first (I'm pretty sure) of the thrift/vintage options is called Temple of the Modern Girl. The lady that runs it is a peach, and you will fit right in with your lefty ideals. Keep walking and you will undoubtedly find whatever you are looking for. Most of them are right on Main and are on the same side of the street. There are also stores with new clothes, but I find that for me the hunt is 99% of the fun and that even when I come home with nothing looking through racks of vintage beauties is worth the trip. Bohemia Gallery has some great stuff upstairs in "the loft", as well as comfy seating for whoever accompanies you.
Of course Mount Pleasant has way more to offer than just thrifting. The coffee, restaurants, people watching, library, and grocery stores are all fantastic too.
Not that I'm jealous or anything.
I hope you have so much fun living there!

the complex infrastructure known as the female mind.

Back in the day mood rings were the coolest. It is hard to not think that those days are still here though. I mean, I more then kind of want one. But, I came across what may be even cooler than mood rings... mood nail polish!!! It could be the revival of mood revealing accessories! The website states,
"These playful nail polishes change color based on your body temperature, your mood, the heat of your latte... or, of course, the chill of your iced coffee! And they will continue changing back and forth as long as your wear them. Cool swim in the ocean? Warm subway ride? Frigid morning run? Sitting under the hair dryer at the salon?"
Now doesn't that sound far more chic than a tacky old ring from the dentist's office?!!!

how am i supposed to get any riding done.

Things that turn me on... men who wear jewelry, men that go to dance parties, men that do war paint for special occasions, men that wear clothes they could share with me, men who look like they are sculpted out of stone. AKA: This man is a dreamboat.

i want to be seen green.

Alison always talks about emerald green everything, espcially corduroy and jumpsuits. When I saw this outfit I couldn't help but think it would probably be the perfect summer outfit for that particular ladyfriend.

sinking like a siren that can't swim no more.

I had a pretty cool onepiece bathing suit last summer for camp. It was bright pink with flowers all over it. As someone who likes to play in the water with kids, I always have my eyes open for similarly appealing onepieces. These are pretty much the coolest ones I have ever come across!!! I, of course, especially love the animal ones. I mean who doesn't want a black stallion galloping across their belly?! If ya know what I mean.

you ain't nothin' but a hound dog, cryin' all the time.

I'm not a huge animal person. Now there is a little dog in the apartment next to us that makes me want to cry sometimes because he barks 24/7, which doesn't help the situation. In fact the other day we forgot to set the alarm, but the dog was barking so loud we woke up anyway.
I do, however, have a soft spot for scruffy lookin dogs. Dogs that look like they would never come clean no matter how hard you scrubbed them, or have asymmetrical features, or always have fur in their eyes. This little guy just killed me! I especially liked that where I found him he was referred to as the "bed bud". He could come cuddle anytime.

tastes so good my hearts been mended.

Today I committed an unthinkable crime... I opened one of the 4 packages of dark chocolate I brought with me and I ate a piece while Jeremy was at work. If he had done that to me I would have been very upset, yet I know he will understand me being a lady and all. I can blame anything from hormones to the fact that after carefully avoiding getting my lunch on my white blouse half of my fudgesickle I ate afterwards fell on it leaving a brown smudge down the front. Having to put a shirt in the laundry basket before it has even been worn for a whole day is definitely worth some more chocolate... right?!Mmmm chocolate.

its been a long time since i rock and rolled.

I know that there are dirty grungy, rock and rollers in South Korea (they are everywhere, Eva and I even saw some hanging out on the floor of the railway station in Bangkok), but I have yet to see any. I might even go further and say that I have seen nothing that even resembles rocker-grunge here. Some frayed edges on some jean shorts is about the closest approximation. I look forward to my first sighting. I will see them! I will see them. Positive thinking helps.Via: johnny's bird

walkin around grabbin his you-know-what.

Summer can be full of fun, but for most of us "University aged" people (at least in Canada) it is a time of uncertainty and a little bit of sadness. I know that I have to actually try everyday to be happy and am constantly reminding myself of everything little that is wonderful and beautiful. This morning I was walking to the bookstore to get another notebook to do my school exercises in and my shirt busted open! At first I was upset because I'm a big baby, but then I was like "that is hilarious". The people here are all offended by cleavage so I've been trying so hard to keep my boobs to myself, then I'm wearing a blouse that covers everything and it flies open exposing my bossoms to a large group of older Korean men who were working in the garden. If I can hold onto how silly that made me feel for the rest of the day, I'll be fine.

Siri, the writer of the blog Ringo, Have a Banana just went to the most rediculous event as a photographer... a foosball tournament in Italy, the pictures are funny you should check it out. She also posted a picture that I have looked at over and over again since it was posted. For some reason this picture makes me feel really good.

noddin my head like yeah.

I know I just showed an all denim ensemble, but heck.... it looks good!!! I have the most delicious denim onesie that I wore for the first time to a Phoenix concert in DC and I have yet to wear it in Korea. I think next time I go to the cool part of Cheongju near the university I will wear it. People there are more urban and outgoing with thier clothes, so it will likely draw less stares. Once I get my nerve up I want to wear it more.
This denim cut out shirt on model Hanneli Mustaparta is actually a bodysuit! This is a totally silly outfit and I like it.

Patti Boyd, the ex-wife of George Harrison and then Eric Clapton, is a retro beauty. She was also the lady for whom many songs were written including Clapton's "Layla" and "Bell Bottom Blues" and George's "Birthday" and "For You Blue", not to mention one of my favourite Beatle's songs "Something".- listening to: "Something" Jim Sturgess (Beatles song in Across the Universe)

For some reason these pictures make me want to go on a drive in the hot sun. I want to be drinking an iced coffee and I want a huge bag of twizzlers and I want to be listening to Bob Dylan. One of my favourite parts about drives like that is stopping at gas stations and stepping out onto the hot pavement with my barefeet.

c'est lui pour moi. moi pour lui. dans la vie.

I got way too upset about the tanktop situation too early. It turns out that it isn't common, but not unheard of and the more urban you get the less strange it is. I have seen at least 4 Korean girls wearing tanktops in the country town I am living in and when I went partying on the weekend, tanktops were almost the norm! I had moved my tanks to my bottom drawer so that I wouldn't have to look at them and torture myself, but I have since remedied the situation because of my new information. Go tanktops!!
